Finished blanket - 400g

My Granny Stripe blanket for Greenfields Africa's Mama Bag Project is finished. It has used up lots of odds and ends to a total of 400g in all. I ave really enjoyed making this and will definitely do another - maybe a bigger one for snuggling into in Lucy colours - once I have cleared enough stash to make room for some more! ;-)

Next stashbusting endeavour - making 8" squares to be made into blankets for Syrian refugees in Turkey. More details here: Love In the Language of Yarn

Yarn at start of year: 31,034g
Yarn gained: 450g
Yarn busted: 1564g
Yarn given away: 100g
Yarn in stash: 29,820g

  1. it's beautiful Julia, I'm sure someone will love it. I have just been talking to one of my friends who managed to escape from Syria, it was lovely to hear from her unfortunately I still have others who haven't been as lucky and are still there. I'm going to be making some squares too thanks for the link :)

    1. They use 64 squares to make a blanket so I'm trying to muster up a blanket's worth from here.

  2. Wow your blanket is amazing - love the colours. I'm a huge granny fan...but not sure if I would have the patience for such a big project - maybe one day....!
I'd certainly crochet some squares for a Lily blanket if you'd like some...

    1. This blanket is only a metre square, so not a HUGE project. If you want to make some LILY squares that would be fantastic - could you send them direct to save double posting? If not I'll give you my address and dd them to mine.

    2. I'll post them direct, thats fine. As you have done this before..do you have any advice on the type of yarn to use - would acrylic be best - or a wool based yarn?
      Thanks

    3. I'm using acrylic because it's what I have most of. I haven't seen anything so far that states a preference for this project.

  5. I love the scrappy look of this blanket. So colorful and beautiful. And for such a good cause. I enjoyed reading about the blankets for Syrian refugees, too. Will look more into the cause since I live in Kuwait and have many Syrian friends who have been affected. Wishing you a wonderful day. Tammy
